During week 6.. I continued with my line drawings.. Then I had a brainwave... I wanted to bring fashion into my project because its one of my interests so I decided I would use my line drawings and create a garment inspired from the drawings... :D
I came up with the idea of creating a sleeve.. obviously making it structured and something that would remind you of architecture and the urban environment.. its still a working progress but hopefully I'll hav pics up soon of my ideas and drawings.. :)
I think I'll create it out of paper first then decide on what material to use afterwards for the final piece.. :)

week 5...
So... We had a textiles demo, mainly working with different techniques of knitting, and knitting in various materials ie. twine, wool, felt. We also made our own felt.. :)
I then started to look through magazines, fashion books, books on architecture etc, cutting out bits n bobs that I thought were relevent to the whole architectural, structural theme.
While drawing images in line form, I got a better idea of shapes that were prominent and could be developed into final pieces.. :)

week 4...
throughout week 4.. i went to 3D demonstrations.. I made a small paper tower by weaving the paper.. its quite simple n plain I didnt really like it but I took pictures of the inside and drew the picture I found this more interesting.. :)
I then weaved differnt fabrics like lace, leatherette and another heavy material.. I chose contrasting materials as I thought this would give me a more interesting texture for the finish piece... :)

week 3...
I really started getting interested in the way fabrics can represent different types of buildings.. like how heavy knits could represent bricks.. or twine.. i knitted some twine, it was really hard but i liked the end result..
I completed a few detailed drawings of a Chapel and other buildings.... :)
week 2...
Ok.. so in the second week I started looking at the history side of things.. which also includes my idea from week one.. people are always changing their environment to suit them.. so I started looking at things that have changed dramatically.. architecture and buildings continuously caught my eye.. so I started doing more research on architecture!
I visited King John's Castle and the Hunt Museum... the castle wasnt much help but I took some good photos at the museum.. :)
While doing research, visiting buildings etc.. textures and shapes and form kept catching my eye.. and I started looking at how textiles and fabric can be manipulated to represent different things ie. architecture.. :)

week one.... Urban Environment
My project has changed alot since week one. While reading the brief I wanted to base it on the effect of people on the environment.. how they can enhance it and also how they can destroy it. I brain-stormed in my notebook then headed down town to take photos. I wanted to get inspiration from first hand sources, not from a book or internet.
I also researched by looking at images on the internet and in magazines mostly... My first idea was to base it on vandalism in limerick....but I changed it completely in the second week.... :)
